Mobileye CEO and President Prof. Amnon Shashua
Mobileye is proud to share that President and CEO Prof. Amnon Shashua has been elected to the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE) as an international member of its Class of 2026. Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions awarded to an engineer, recognizing outstanding contributions to engineering research, practice or education.
Prof. Shashua was nominated and elected by peers for his contributions to computer vision and its application to autonomous driving technology. He is one of 28 international members in this year’s class, joining a body of 356 international members worldwide.
Prof. Shashua co-founded Mobileye in 1999 with the conviction that AI could make driving fundamentally safer. Since then, about 230 million vehicles have been equipped with Mobileye technology, turning foundational computer vision and machine learning research into one of the most widely deployed physical AI systems in the world. His work has spanned industry-leading perception systems, formal safety frameworks, and scalable AI architectures, contributing to the proliferation of ADAS and the evolution of autonomous driving from science project to commercial reality.
The foundation Prof. Shashua established in computer vision and machine learning today extends beyond vehicles. In January, Mobileye announced the acquisition of Mentee Robotics and with it a new chapter – Mobileye 3.0 – applying breakthroughs in AI to the physical world and leveraging core strengths in perception, simulation, and safety models to lead in humanoid robotics and autonomous driving.
The NAE honor adds to a series of recognitions of Prof. Shashua’s contributions, including the 2020 Dan David Prize in artificial intelligence, the 2022 Automotive Hall of Fame Mobility Innovator Award, and the 2019 Electronic Imaging Scientist of the Year.
