JERUSALEM and GILLINGHAM, England, Aug. 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Mobileye (NYSE: MBLY) and Delphi Automotive PLC (NYSE: DLPH) announced today a partnership to jointly develop a complete SAE Level 4/5 automated driving solution. The program will result in an end-to-end production-intent fully automated vehicle solution, with the level of performance and functional safety required for rapid integration into diverse vehicle platforms for a range of customers worldwide. The partners’ CSLP platform will be demonstrated in combined urban and highway driving at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and production ready for 2019.

The automated driving solution will be based on key technologies from each company. The three leaders from the automotive, technology and computer vision and machine learning industries are collaborating to bring solutions for highly and fully automated driving into series production by 2021.

The future of automated driving promises to change lives and societies for the better. But the path to get to a fully autonomous world is complex and will require end-to-end solutions that integrate intelligence across the network, from door locks to the data center. Transportation providers of the future must harness rapidly evolving technologies, collaborate with totally new partners, and prepare for disruptive opportunities.

Together with Intel and Mobileye, the BMW Group will develop the necessary solutions and innovative systems for highly and fully automated driving to bring these technologies into series production by 2021. The companies have agreed to a set of deliverables and milestones to deliver fully autonomous cars based on a common reference architecture. Near term, the companies will demonstrate an autonomous test drive with a highly automated driving (HAD) prototype. In 2017 the platform will extend to fleets with extended autonomous test drives.

The Road to Full Autonomous Driving: Mobileye and STMicroelectronics to Develop EyeQ®5 System-on-Chip, Targeting Sensor Fusion Central Computer for Autonomous Vehicles

5th-generation System-on-Chip, scheduled to sample in H1 2018, builds on long-standing cooperation between Mobileye and ST and market success of EyeQ technology, available now or in the near future on vehicles from 25 car manufacturers

JERUSALEM and GENEVA, May 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Mobileye (NYSE: MBLY) and STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) today announced that the two companies are co-developing the next (5th) generation of Mobileye’s SoC, the EyeQ®5, to act as the central computer performing sensor fusion for Fully Autonomous Driving (FAD) vehicles starting in 2020.

To meet power consumption and performance targets, the EyeQ5 will be designed in advanced 10nm or below FinFET technology node and will feature eight multithreaded CPU cores coupled with eighteen cores of Mobileye’s next-generation, innovative, and well-proven vision processors. Taken together, these enhancements will increase performance 8x times over the current 4th generation EyeQ4. The EyeQ5 will produce more than 12 Tera operations per second, while keeping power consumption below 5W, to maintain passive cooling at extraordinary performance. Engineering samples of EyeQ5 are expected to be available by first half of 2018.

The EyeQ5 continues Mobileye’s long-standing cooperation with STMicroelectronics. Leveraging its substantial experience in automotive-grade designs, ST will support state-of-the-art physical implementation, specific memory and high-speed interfaces, and system-in-package design to ensure the EyeQ5 meets the full qualification process aligned with the highest automotive standards. ST will also contribute to the overall safety- and security-related architecture of the product.

EyeQ5 features heterogeneous, fully programmable accelerators, with each of the four accelerator types in the chip optimized for its own family of algorithms. This diversity of accelerator architectures enables applications to save both computational time and energy by using the most suitable core for every task. This optimized assignment ensures the EyeQ5 provides “super-computer” capabilities within a low-power envelope to enable price-efficient passive cooling. Autonomous driving requires an unprecedented level of focus on functional safety. EyeQ5 is designed for systems that meet the highest grade of safety in automotive applications (ASIL B(D), according to the ISO 26262 standard).

Mobileye has built the EyeQ5’s security defenses based on the integrated Hardware Security Module. This enables system integrators to support over-the-air software updates, secure in-vehicle communication, etc. The root of trust is created based on a secure boot from an encrypted storage device.

EyeQ5 will be delivered to carmakers and Tier1s along with a full suite of hardware accelerated algorithms and applications that are required for autonomous driving. Along with this, Mobileye will support an automotive-grade standard operating system and provide a complete software development kit (SDK) to allow customers to differentiate their solutions by deploying their algorithms on EyeQ5. The SDK may also be used for prototyping and deployment of Neural Networks, and for access to Mobileye pre-trained network layers.  Uses of EyeQ5 as an Open Software Platform are facilitated by such architectural elements as hardware virtualization and full cache coherency between CPUs and accelerators.

Autonomous driving requires fusion processing of dozens of sensors, including high-resolution cameras, radars, and LiDARs. The sensor-fusion process has to simultaneously grab and process all the sensors’ data.  For this purpose, the EyeQ5’s dedicated IOs support at least 40Gbps data bandwidth.

EyeQ5 implements two PCIe Gen4 ports for inter-processor communication, which could enable system expansion with multiple EyeQ5 devices or for connectivity with an application processor.

High computational and data bandwidth requirements are supported with four 32-bit LPDDR4 channels, operating at 4267MT/s.

Availability

Engineering samples of EyeQ5 are expected to be available by first half of 2018. First development hardware with the full suite of applications and SDK are expected by the second half of 2018.

Mobileye presents latest road test findings demonstrating the safety benefits of its collision avoidance technology following 15 million kilometers of testing.

BEIJING, May 16, 2016 — Mobileye N.V., the global leader in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving technologies, today announced, during a joint symposium with the Chinese Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport, key findings from a 2015 test of their advanced collision avoidance technology conducted by the Chinese Research Institute of Highway Ministry of Transport.

During the tests, approximately 300 of Mobileye’s aftermarket collision avoidance systems were installed on buses and trucks and driven 15 million kilometers. On average, the vehicles equipped with Mobileye systems showed:

  • 27% decrease in forward collision warnings per 100 kilometers
  • 26% decrease in unintended lane departures per 100 kilometers
  • 39% decrease in the number of Headway Warnings per 100 kilometers
  • 21-35% decrease in the average “Risk Ratio”

First Quarter 2016 Financial Highlights

  • Revenue: Total revenue for the first quarter of 2016 was $75.2 million, compared to $45.6 million in the prior-year period.  Within total revenue, original equipment manufacturing (OEM) revenue was $61.4 million, compared to $36.6 million in the prior-year period. EyeQ chip volume increased 62% year-over-year to 1,322 thousand EyeQ units, compared to 817 thousand units in the prior-year period.  The EyeQ Average Selling Price (ASP) per unit for the first quarter of 2016 was $44.2, up from $43.7 during the same period last year.  After market (AM) revenue contributed the remaining $13.8 million of total revenue for the first quarter of 2016 compared to $9.0 million in the prior-year period.
  • Net Income and Earnings per Share: GAAP net income for the first quarter of 2016 was $21.9 million, or $0.09 per diluted share. This compares to GAAP net income of $10.1 million, or $0.04 per diluted share for the first quarter of 2015. GAAP results include share-based compensation expense of $13.1 million for the first quarter of 2016 compared to $8.1 million for the first quarter of 2015.

Non-GAAP net income for the first quarter of 2016 was $35.0 million, or $0.15 per share, based on 236.9 million weighted average diluted shares outstanding.  This compares to non-GAAP net income of $18.2 million, or $0.08 per share, based on 237.0 million weighted average diluted shares outstanding during the first quarter of 2015. Non-GAAP net income excludes share-based compensation expense.

  • Cash and Cash Flow: At March 31, 2016, Mobileye had cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and marketable securities of$510.2 million, compared to $476.1 million at December 31, 2015.

The company generated $32.5 million in net cash from operating activities for the first quarter of 2016 compared to $21.5 million for the first quarter of 2015.  The company generated $30.4 million in free cash flow for the 2016 first quarter compared to $18.8 million for the comparable 2015 quarter.  Free cash flow represents net cash provided by operating activities minus capital expenditures.

Mobileye Schedules Its First Quarter 2016 Financial Results Release For Thursday, May 5, 2016

JERUSALEM, April 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Mobileye N.V. (NYSE: MBLY), the global leader in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and autonomous driving technologies, today announced that it intends to release its financial results for the first quarter endedMarch 31, 2016 on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at approximately 7:00 a.m. ET.

In conjunction with the release, Mobileye will host a conference call at 8:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, May 5, 2016 to review the company’s financial results for the first quarter 2016.  A live webcast of this conference call will be available on the investor relations portion of the company’s website at ir.mobileye.com, and a replay of the webcast will be archived on the website for 90 days.
