Sumitomo Mitsui Becomes First Japanese Leasing Company To Install Mobileye’s Collision Prevention Assistance System.
AMSTERDAM – July 15, 2011 – Mobileye, the market leader in driver safety systems and collision prevention and mitigation technologies, today announces global wins in major world markets including Japan and Israel. Mobileye’s unique vision-based platform, driven by its proprietary chipset and algorithms, works as a third eye, analyzing the risk of forward collision, lane departure, headway following distance and pedestrian hazards in real time through visual and audio alerts.
Sumitomo Mitsui Auto Service Co. Ltd., a top leasing company in Japan with an inventory of 540,000 vehicles, will integrate Mobileye’s real-time driver assistance solution into its leased vehicle offering. Mobileye provides additional safety assurance for Sumitomo Mitsui’s drivers, as well as those sharing the road, in an effort to prevent and mitigate accidents. The company is currently equipping its own fleet of 200 cars with Mobileye C2-270, and will start take orders from their customers soon. Sumitomo Mitsui believes that the excellent driver safety functions in Mobileye’s product offering can help them achieve a high penetration rate in its customers’ fleets over the next months and years.
As more systems are put into vehicles, Sumitomo Mitsui plans to conduct advanced research and testing on those leasers who installed Mobileye in their vehicles to monitor the collisions and accidentrelated costs reduction and the influence on fuel consumption.
“Driver safety is an issue in all parts of the world, on all roads, and affects all people. We are pleased to see companies like Sumitomo Mitsui leading their markets by implementing technology to assist drivers in collision prevention and mitigation, while enhancing good judgment and improving driver behavior,” said Isaac Litman, CEO of Mobileye Products. “We are encouraged by the number of leasing companies that are taking safety seriously, and equipping their customers with the best possible technology support solutions.”
