Make no mistake about it: developing a vehicle that can effectively drive itself is a huge undertaking – one that might have seemed like science fiction not long ago. But even if you get a prototype working properly, deploying autonomous vehicles en masse presents an entirely new set of difficulties to overcome.

Fortunately, we here at Mobileye aren’t merely cognizant of the challenges inherent in deploying autonomous vehicles at scale; we’re actively working on tackling the problem. The approach we’re taking is rather unique in the industry, introducing a concept we call “true redundancy” in a way that which we believe allows for not only better safety, but also faster validation. And we’re doing it all with an eye fixed firmly on the level of safety that we believe our technology must achieve if autonomous vehicles are to make the crucial leap from the prototype phase to widespread deployment.

Our CEO Prof. Amnon Shashua wrote about just this issue in a recent editorial on Medium (shared via the Intel Newsroom). Head on over to get the inside scoop, straight from the top, on how Mobileye is approaching “The Challenge of Supporting AV at Scale.”
